Meet Mr. Fun

Shane Waterman, founder of Making Magic Tours, has worked in the field of developmental disabilities for over 30 years. He has specialized in programming and directing recreational activities for various agencies during that time. Shane has led over 250 tours throughout the country and abroad and has been responsible for over 3,000 individuals with disabilities on vacations. Shane’s background is in psychology and special education. He furthers his knowledge by studying the latest information and participating in the most current trainings on developmental disabilities.

Shane’s 30+ years of experience includes the following:

1997-2008 Program Director for a national travel company (specializing in developmental disabilities)

1994-1997 Recreation Leisure Coordinator for a large agency in Central Oregon (coordinated activities and events for all clients with disabilities in Central Oregon area.)

1994-1997 Certified Special Olympics coach basketball, also coached bowling, softball, as well as track and field.

1993-1994 Provided direct care services for individuals with disabilities through a large agency in Central Oregon

The “Mr. Fun” nickname was bestowed upon Shane by people in the field for his many years of fun, exciting, safe, and energetic adventures with all of his friends with disabilities.
